Founded by two families

3C Refrigeration was founded over thirteen years ago to do one thing: refrigeration for the institutions that cannot afford equipment failure. What began as a partnership between the Clapp and Cook families became a name known across North Carolina’s research and pharmaceutical communities.

Alex Clapp takes over

Four years ago Alex Clapp took over as owner and kept the company where it belongs — on the floor, hands on the equipment. Since then the focus has narrowed further onto the environments where precision matters most: university research labs, pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotech facilities.

A small team, on the equipment

Today 3C is a small, dedicated team. Every technician knows institutional refrigeration, and every customer works directly with the people doing the work. No call centers, no runaround.

How we work.

Exclusively institutional and research.Universities, pharmaceutical facilities, and research institutions. We do not do residential work, and we do not do general HVAC. The equipment in these buildings is a specialty and it gets all of our attention.
Owner-operated, personally accountable.The owner oversees every job from the first call to the finished work. One point of contact. When something is wrong, you talk to the person who can fix it.
Equipment general contractors are not set up for.Environmental chambers, pharmaceutical cold storage, clean room cooling, laboratory refrigeration — and the custom condensing units we fabricate in-house when nothing off the shelf will do.
